Stephen Cary is serving as a project intern for the Community Development Plan update with the Town of Ipswich Department of Planning and Development over the summer of 2019. He is working closely with project consultant, JM Goldson community preservation + planning, on updating the community profiles. Come meet him at our table at the Pop-Up Farmer's Market on Friday June 21st from 4-7PM!
Steve is a current student in the graduate school at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, expecting to complete a Masters in Regional Planning (MRP) in the spring of 2020. His graduate research is focused on helping foster sustainable growth in small-to-midsize cities through the promotion of alternative transportation and mitigating the fragmenting impacts of inner-city freeways. Steve grew up in central Massachusetts and earned a B.A. in Geography at Clark University in 2013, and his time as a GIS specialist, political activist, and landscaper during the intervening years nurtured his passion for community development and sustainability planning. He is excited to contribute to the Ipswich comprehensive plan process in its initial stages, and to get insight into the professional planning world from both municipal and private sector perspectives.
